Frequently asked questions
A few plain-English answers about the forecast and the decisions behind it.
Do I need to share my exact location?
No. You can search for a town, city, or postcode. If you use current location, we reverse-geocode it into a place label and use the coordinates for weather.
Why does recent rain matter?
Rain can keep the root zone useful for longer after the sky clears. We look back across the previous few days so a sunny morning does not automatically trigger watering.
Why does future rain lower the score?
If a meaningful shower is likely soon, watering now may be unnecessary. We pay extra attention to the next few hours, then use the wider three-day outlook for the bigger picture.
What if my plant is indoors?
Use the nearest outdoor weather as a rough signal, then treat the soil and indoor humidity as the deciding evidence. Indoor plants can dry much more slowly or quickly depending on heating, light, and pot size.
Can I use this for a whole garden?
Yes, but choose the plant and planting setup that best represents the area. For very different spots, check them separately — a sunny pot and a shaded border should not share one answer.
Where does the weather data come from?
The forecast comes from Open-Meteo. We interpret it for watering rather than presenting it as a generic weather dashboard.
